What do lesbians wear? whats the dress code? is there one?...I should admit my daughters guide on my dress sense was quite helpful when it came down to deciding,
‘Does this make me look like a lesbian in this?’
Lesbian Life is not about telling people to just get 'out' of the closet and be 'out' and proud! It is about saying, how you can live in this world as who you are but, considering some of the issues that are real to you, it is not always something you can be 'out' about.
My simple point is not to suggest lesbians are any different to the heterosexual individual experiencing a loss. Feelings are unique to each individual. Whether or not the relationship is 'young, green and new', or 'many maturing years, in depth,' the end leaves both parties with an empty feeling. The level of emptyness and the ability to cope will effect each person uniquely.
My Mums still gay and always will be and I have had to be thick skinned many times not because she is gay but, because so many people are still so ignorant. I always hoped my Mum would change her mind one day but, as I have got a bit older I realised that was not going to happen! My Mum was a lesbian because that was who she was, it was not some easy choice she made. Despite her sexuality she is still my Mum and I wouldn't change her for the world!
‘Everyone feels they are losing someone, no one seems to realise it’s always who I have been or how hard it is to try and be who they see me as.’ The important thing to know is if you feel you are transgender, there is many places, organisations, help and support groups including the NHS who can help you understand what is happening, what the options are for you and can also offer support and counselling to family and friends.
